UNDERSTAND THE ESTIMATE

How the Out-the-Door Price Calculator works

Estimate the total price of a vehicle after known taxes and fees. AutoUnite starts with the vehicle price, keeps missing amounts explicit, and improves the estimate as registration and transaction details become available.

What you need to get started

This calculator uses the following inputs to build an estimate. Check your own agreement or quote when a rate, fee, or contract value is required.

  • Vehicle Price

You can also refine your scenario with information such as Tax Amount $, Tax Rate %, Title / Registration, Dealer / Documentation Fees, Optional Add-Ons / Protection Products, Rebates. Enter details only when known; an unknown fee, rate, or benefit is not automatically zero.

How the estimate is built

  1. Start with the vehicle's verified selling price or the price you enter.
  2. Add sourced or entered tax, title, registration, and dealer-fee amounts when they are known.
  3. Include optional add-ons, rebates, and trade information without treating an unknown value as zero.
  4. Review the result as an estimate until the dealer confirms the final transaction figures.

Example

For illustration only: a $35,000 selling price plus an assumed $2,100 tax amount, $350 title and registration charge, and $600 dealer fee produces a $38,050 subtotal before any trade, rebate, or optional add-on. These are hypothetical inputs, not a jurisdiction-specific tax calculation or a dealer-confirmed out-the-door quote.

Common out-the-door price questions

What does out-the-door price include?

An out-the-door estimate can include the vehicle selling price, applicable taxes, government title and registration charges, dealer or documentation fees, add-ons, and rebates. The exact final total depends on the transaction and jurisdiction.

Is the out-the-door estimate a dealer quote?

No. AutoUnite separates an estimate from a dealer-confirmed out-the-door quote and identifies missing or source-dependent amounts.

Why can taxes change the estimate?

Vehicle tax rules and taxable amounts can depend on where the vehicle is registered and on transaction details such as trade treatment. AutoUnite uses available source details when it can and clearly shows any tax information that is still missing.

Does a trade-in always reduce the taxable amount?

No. Trade tax treatment varies by jurisdiction, so trade value is not automatically treated as a tax reduction.

What if I do not know the dealer fee?

Leave it unknown. AutoUnite will show that the fee is not included rather than assuming it is zero.

Can I use a price from an AutoUnite listing?

Yes when the connected listing price passes AutoUnite's verified-price rules. Unverified listing prices are not silently used as the calculation base.
